There are many private buses offering transport between the Airport and the districts around Melbourne, (including the nearby suburban and the [not so near] country areas from which they originate.) There are also a number of shuttle buses that run directly from the airport to inner city hotels, avoiding the need to change busses at Southern Cross station as its mentioned in Melbourne bus map. They depart from departure Zone L, which is a 10 metre walk from the SkyBus departure point, outside the international terminal. The shuttle busses serve a larger area of the inner city than SkyBus, so may be useful for people not staying in CBD hotels or who do not wish to change buses.
